Something that helps me with overthinking is to listen to music with headphones. It really limits external interference and gives me something pleasant to focus on. I would use something calming for helping you sleep but if I'm feeling anxious about something I listen to something that really lifts my mood. Today The Ramones and The Pogues really helped me make a phone call I didn't want to make. I also used to use lavender oil for my kids when they were babies - just a drop on a pillow I think it helped.

in the absence of a proper dx of ADHD [which of 8 subtypes] the best one could do would be to do things proven to calm folks down in general, including avoiding a high-refined carb diet and daily vigorous exercise which has multiple benefits. also, I benefited for a while from beta blockers which got rid of my intentional tremor.

Find a song that calms you down and listen to it. Sometimes just having earbuds in or headphones on helps too, even if you can't handle music playing through them at the time (sometimes I can't handle having music playing through them.)

Try to avoid heavily processed foods. I find that when I keep my diet cleaner, it doesn't necessarily make me LESS anxious, but it makes the anxiety easier to manage without heading in destructive directions.

Exercise is usually helpful. I do swimming, the flow-y coordinated movements are awesome, even if the temperature changes are kind of hellish (but they're short-lived.)

Weighted blankets are expensive, but I've found a decent-ish substitute is a sleeping bag and a couple blankets on top. Works less well when it's warm out.

Coping with autism can be pretty hard. I like to have at least a couple friends, but there's always a gap that just leaves me feeling lonely. The best I've found are two people who get that the gap exists but try to find ways around it and help me make the gap less disabling.

I find that dense brown or pink noise [the dull windy roar from large air handling systems in big buildings] also calms me straightaway. :)

I suggest calming textures if there is something you like.
