What do you think of people who say stuff like that? I hate it when people attribute stuff like that to autism. Next thing I know people will attribute picking their nose or pooping to autism.

I love bright colours, but I don't link it to having an ASD.

Linking everything to ASD seems very common here. Yes some things ARE linked to ASDs, but not things like having blonde hair, liking bananas, sleeping on your back, being prone to hay fever, owning a blue jacket, and many other random things that are just part of an individual's characteristics, and not whether they have Autism or not.

aspiewriter.com has written several posts bout colors and autism and how it affects people on the spectrum and how they see them.

This is the 5th post written by her about colors and autism:

http://aspiewriter.com/2014/05/the-psyc ... nment.html

I do not like bright colors or dark colors. But colors don't affect me in a way it does for people on the spectrum. It's about degree.

BTW people have attributed smearing poop on walls to autism but I hear normal toddlers do this to. My parents were lucky none of us kids went through it but my son sure did. I am curious about how it's attributed to autism. Is it about degree and how does it differ to autistic children doing it than normal children?

I find that lighter hues of green in the Pea family are soft on my eyes.

I like bright colors. I like pastels. I don't care for dull colors.

Me being a Wolfman, though, is linked to Autism

I like the color mingerah (also spelled mingreh) because I'm imaginative.

I don't really care when people say this sort of thing. It's certainly not the worst thing people on the Internet say about autism. And with colours, they could have a point. It could be a sensible thing.

I dislike orange, pink and white. I attribute the first to my sense of style, the second to my fragile masculinity and the last to the fact that staring at a white screen really hurts my eyes. I had this class once in a room with one salmon-pink wall and it looked absolutely terrible.

I don't like it when someone says they like or dislike something because of their neurology, nationality, age, gender, or whatever justification in doing so.

Inclinations are, not individual tastes.
You don't have to be antisocial/asocial/misanthrope because you're an introvert.

Unless you hate humans because you're a cat. And I like green, white, black, and blue myself.

I LOVE bright colors, especially bright colored lights. And I believe that my autism is involved. When I was 3 years old and non-verbal, I loved lights. I would stare at them.

Now that I'm verbal and a senior citizen, I still love bright colored lights. This is just my experience. After all, if you've met one autistic person, you've met one autistic person.

I'd like to point out the autistics that are affected by color alot, (One being me) favorite colors are typically opposite, For example my favorite color (Which hasn't been named yet, I call it Piplup Blue, is 0 Red, 0.69 Green and 1 Blue.

I don't doubt that some people are misattributing liking bright colours to ASD, but for others it wouldn't surprise me if there is a link. Specifically, those people with visual hyposensitivites.

I think it's mainly linked to autism because of delayed toilet training. Only people who wear diapers smear poop, and some autistic people need diapers longer than normal, so the potential for poop smearing lasts for a longer period. Parents tend to complain about it because it's gross and unpleasant to clean, and it gets them pity points because the kid is too 'old' to be smearing poop.

I suppose it's possible there could be a sensory-seeking element to it, but I haven't seen any evidence that diaper-wearing autistics are any more likely to smear poop than diaper-wearing NTs.

As for liking bright colors, why couldn't that be related to autism? I had an obsession with purple when I was little. It wasn't just 'my favorite color' the way most people describe, it was basically anytime I had a choice between purple and non-purple objects I chose the purple one regardless of any other features. I assumed I had to like the taste of all purple foods better than any non-purple food, would write/draw in purple if given the chance, etc.

I very much enjoy bright colors. Yellow is actually my favorite.
It's not always because of autism, or because you're a girl, or anything.
