David Beckham autistic?

Am I the only one who thinks David Beckham is on the spectrum but hes very high functioning? For example lack of facial expressions and he sounds different from most people to.


I know he's most known for his OCD and has been called narcissistic too.


I also suspected that the late princess Diana was on the autism spectrum as well but like many women was misdiagnosed as having a personality disorder.

I doubt it very much that David Beckham is autistic; some with Princess Diana.

Some can hide it better than others.

Women with autism are FREQUENTLY overlooked compared to males with it.

It's obvious, to me, that Princess Diana had no autism in her.

Beckham is a soccer player; many of them have somewhat dull personalities because they're into their sport. It doesn't mean that they are autistic.

Now....Gary Numen...the guy who did the song "Cars." I could make a case for him being on the Spectrum.

Mike Tyson? He has a unrivalled knowledge of boxing from all eras, would spend hour after hour watching very old fights analysing them,obsessed with pigeons.

I don't see autism in Tyson. He's just an eccentric, neurotypical character.

I think we tend to get on well with eccentric types.

If you want an eccentric boxer you can't look any further than Eubank, that guy is quite a character and was a pretty good fighter too.

David Beckham has quite severe OCD. He and his family have talked about it publicly.

Princess Diana is believed to have had Borderline Personality Disorder; the same is said of Marilyn Monroe. But neither were diagnosed.

Probably not. Being wildly rich and famous just allows you not to have to follow the rest of societies rules and expectations, I imagine it probably is hard for him to socialize with regular people but that's because he's David Beckham not because he's autistic. The guy is probably essentially a grown child since he probably has been coddled as an athlete and celebrity most of his life so he never had to mature or anything like that.

Like I have said if a woman has a meltdown or tantrum (which Diana used to do behind closed doors) she is labeled as having a personality disorder. If a man has a meltdown/tantrum he gets labels 'austistic'.

I think I see what you're saying. It could be the result of few women being diagnosed with autism until relatively recently, and the mistaken belief that it wasn't a condition that women had.

The public can label people as much as they like, but what is important is the professional diagnosis. Diana appears to have had many of the symptoms of quite severe BPD (I'm familiar with it because I also have this diagnosis, although mild). But as far as I'm aware she was never officially diagnosed, although she did have bulimia, which is common in people with BPD. BPD is also found more often in women than in men.

I've met a couple of high-performing athletes. What is so striking about them is partly how single-minded they are, but also how conventional they are. A love of fashion doesn't spell thinking outside the box.

As for Diana, she was a social butterfly long before she married a prince. I don't think an autistic woman would have the energy.
