Barrow the money. The US government will guarantee the banks so you need no credit.

My college tuition is paid for by the state's Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, based on my AS. I assume you're an Aspie too? You should explore then whether the DVR office nearest your location can help you out.

Hmm must be your state is expensive. When I went to college at a state school in Texas
it was very low cost(mid 1990's). I barrowed about $8000 I think total for 3 years of college. Plus I had atleast that much and alittle more in grants, scholarships , work study job wages, and money from family.

I needed a hug! Peace...

most states won't pay for college for people with Asperger's.

I feel bad now for complaining about the UK system. In the UK, it used to be that your tuition was paid for and you got grants and loans for living expenses (unless you had a certain amount of money in which case you weren't eligible and had to pay) but then this year it switched to a new system where everyone pays £3,000 per year but at least there are still grants and scholarships and a government loan system to pick up the rest. I will be £25,300 ($51,000) in debt when I finish university (4 years tuition at £3,000 a year and £3,325 loan a year) but at least I have the opportunity to go. The way the loans work is that you only have to start paying it back when you earn over £15,000 per year and the repayments start off small and get bigger as you earn more. The best thing is that it is all cleared after 25 years so you won't owe anything after that. To be honest, I can't see myself ever earning much more than £15k pa (or its equivalent) so I guess I won't have to worry about paying off most of the debt anyway.

I hope it works out that your daughter can go to college though.

Do you know which states do and which ones don't? This seems very helpful information for a lot of Aspies, and it might be worthwhile for many to consider moving to a state that does pay for them to go college.
