Something hopefully a bit lighthearted to start the new year.

I have a funny thing with socks & shoes, basically I don't like wearing them. Shoes feel like they are trapping my feet, I get quite panicky putting on shoes and I have to prepare myself for it first, sometimes having to quickly take them off before taking a breath then putting them back on again. Similar with socks, new socks are too tight, they go on, I whip them off quick smart in a panic then I out them back on again.

I wish I had some funny quirks - mine are all stupid/uncool/embarrassing quirks. Though I suppose the constant misunderstandings I find myself in can be pretty funny. Also my general clumsiness and executive dysfunction problems, blundering into walls while forgetting why I was trying to go that way to begin with... It's not so much a 'quirky habit' as just me trying to get through an average day!

I started off 2017 by dropping our new calendar behind the stove. Typical! :D

I have a tendency to tap objects when I pass them.

I sleep with 8 layers of sheets of blankets even in the summer, and 10 layers in the winter because the weight of the blankets against my body helps me sleep.

Me too! But not so much tap as it is feel things. I can't walk through a store without running my hands down all the stuff. It kind of annoys my mom.

I would say my interest in Denis istomin is pretty quirky. Many people have never heard of him and that's a shame. More people should read his story. It was a great source of inspiration to me.

I thoroughly research facts about every country I have ever been interested in. Right now, I am paying attention to what goes on in Russia, probably because it has been at the top in the news, but also because of Denis Istomin. I am interested in knowing what life was like for him growing up in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

I have been checking to see if the doors are locked before I leave the house and before I go to bed. I also constantly check to see if I have my purse and keys.

How I always seem to fall in love with characters that I share the same autistic mindset with.

I go into a state of nothingness, sometimes when I'm talking or being introduced. My mind becomes empty and I have no awareness of a situation I should address. It lasts a few minutes and then, ping!, I'm back.

I walk from my front door to my car door several times in a row to check the locks. I won't stop checking until it feels right.

I still think that self talking is my weirdest quirk.

But in comparison -- I would only eat three different fruits, walk for about at least 10 hours a week, I call 'doing things', 'experiments', 'practicing' as 'play', randomly go outside the house at past midnight then run around the street while laughing, and only mainly wear 5 to 8 sets of clothes I wear for work then sleep every respective nights with it.

Just the usual twitchy stims and little rituals of autism.
