I used to be the same way.

Very whimsical and childlike, balanced out by the equally bitchy/analytical side similar to what drlaugh mentioned. I can be a very confusing thirtysomething for some, but I've managed to turn these traits and my literal thinking into a style of humor most people really like.

i can relate to this sentiment...i'm 19 soon and i might turn into the kind of person you describe when i hear 30 myself... (:

in my experience most people have no desire to hear my analytical musings. most use me for a quick laugh.

my own sense of humor is appreciated, fortunately. good to hear someone else had crafted theirs from such traits.

Last week at Yoga I let out meow a meow. It was during the dog, cow, cat series.

The teacher quipped exactly after my whimsy

that is fortunate for your teacher. my quips come only after a delay. after everyone else has forgotten what to quip about.

Random noises are a bit twicky.

So are quick quips.

Reminds me of poem

I have a keen uncanny wit of knowing what to quip back
The trouble is
I must admit,
It's midnight when I think of it

Above poem from memory and not quoted exactly.
Author not remembered.

Sometimes my brain remembers
Thus is not a good place or time to be whimsical.
Other times it remembers The Sewios times need a touch of whimsy.

I am completely, utterly, and totally whimsical...except when I'm in a depression cycle or having a meltdown.

yeah I have delay too!! ! Sometimes I can be quick witted, but nine times out of ten the conversation has moved on by the time I figure out what I wanted to say...

Oh yes, you can believe it. I’m very random and capricious but that’s balanced out by my cold calculating analytical side. There wouldn’t be a problem if I had a 50/50 split of random/analytical but I vary between 100/0 and 0/100 much of the time.

I make very random connections in my head all the time and find humour in things few other understand. My wife always tells me this is why she loves me when I take 5 minutes to explain the completely random thought process behind a joke that seemed to make no sense to anyone.

I think without my random, capricious, mischievous side, I would have nothing good in my life. I need my random but it does make it hard to budget and schedule my life when I’m so bloody impulsive.

Absolutely my point!! ! I love being me and whimsical randomness is a part of that....
But It does make things difficult at times, and at times such as that I just have to scream to let it out!!... lol

An episode of Star Trek popped out of my brain.
The one where Kirk is split.
Moral? He needed both sides.
Second brain pop

I'm two mints in one ( from a very old long time ago commercial)

I was offered sea weed to sample.
I passed
I'm tempted now to buy some at cosco
I remember vaguely eating some about 30 years ago.

Like many things, it depends on how it's cooked. It takes on flavors very well without competing. Texture can be iffy depending on how it's made too.

But, I flip from non-serious to serious and it gives me a bit of a schizoid appearance.

Non-serious is about the only way I can be sociable.

Serious is for work. I have difficulty being serious in social settings because then it gets too analytical and picky. Not a great social lubricant.

My day gig has always allowed for my whimsy.
Even at the State Penn, my boss introduced me to dignataries (such as the U. S. Drug Czar as the Crown Prince of Laughter.) My actual title was a bit more mundane.
I recall the raw seaweed was unpleasant texture such as Brussels Sprouts. Which even thinking about makes my brain go ooooo   :(
