Sometimes it's not "trolling" but a genuine question or response.
The trolls usually talk about off topic things and use insulting language.
Just talking about a controversial subject that is relevant to a forum is not trolling.
Disagreeing with a post isn't trolling either unless you start "flaming" which means you name call, degrade, and become viscious and insulting.

I agree with Ana, you have to be a bit careful calling someone a troll because they might be asking what we think is a stupid question, but is a genuine question to them. On this site especially there are people with varying levels of understanding and language difficulties from their level of autism.
And yeah, technically a troll is someone who joins a forum for the sole purpose of making trouble. For example joining a Star Trek forum to say it is the worst show in history, just to upset the fans is trollish behavior. But also like Ana mentioned there are normal members of a site who start flaming and fighting for no reason. There are some here who are genuine members of this site, but you will see the same person constantly criticizing, flaming and fighting in every post. That's trollish behavior too but some don't get it. One member here started a thread a while back saying she was accused of being a troll, insisted she wasn't and then went around the board arguing and generally being a jerk. So...yeah, she's a troll.[/quote]
I don't know why I am being so paranoid. I keep thinking you are talking about me because I have started a thread awhile back talking about innocent people being accused of trolls and I have said in some of my posts about me being accused of being a troll. It's been bothering me for two days now and finally had to ask. Forgive me if you weren't talking about me and you were talking about someone else. I have been accused of being rude in the past and arguing so I tend to get paranoid now sometimes.
I have asked myself, "Are these things true about you?"
Me: "No."
"Then she isn't talking about you so stop worrying." My conscience.

It's a small plastic doll of the ugly-cute variety, with bushy, brightly colored hair on top of its head. It was originally created by a Danish fellow by the name of Thomas Dam. They became very popular in the 1990's and I had about a zillion of them, and I still have quite a few. Why they are supposed to be the terror of Scandinavia and the Internet I can't imagine. ![]()
