Does anyone else here get REALLY annoyed by the other idiots that you are forced to share the road with??

Because of this reason, and because I get so incredibly angry when I drive because of these idiots, I am really hating to have to drive these days. People riding my tail INFURIATES me. Why do they do that???

I am starting to develop a lot of stress/anger anxiety when driving these days and am worrying that I might do something stupid because I get so angry (my inhibitions drop dramatically when I am angry).

Does anyone else get this stressed when they're driving, in particular, just plain furious??????????

Sophist,

I have absolutely become a madwoman on the road. I become rage-fodder if these things happen:

1. Someone tailgates me
2. Someone cuts me off in traffic, most times only to turn at the next block
3. Someone turns out in front of me when there is absolutely no one behind me only to move slow as pond water
4. If a gravel truck is in front of me. How dare they put those signs on the back of their trucks stating I should be 500 feet back from them or it is my fault if one of their rocks hit my windshield and break it.

I want two bumper stickers. One for the front of my car and one for the back. The front one will be a warning for all gravel truck drivers. It will state; "If you break my windshield I am not responsible for breaking your face!" The bumper sticker on the back will say; "Put down the sandwich, Put out the Cigarette, Hang up the phone, AND JUST DRIVE!! !"

So what do ya think Sophist? Do you think I've been bitten by the road rage bug, too?

The only thing that helps me is my Music....it soothes the savage "beastie" which is the loving name my sons have given their driven mother

Haha. I get road rage too, but for different reasons. I am particular in that I like to drive precisely at the speed limit. If I have to drive less or more, I get mad and stressed. When I drive, I focus on a section of road ahead of me a certain distance, abotu 2 car lengths, and I just aim for that and zone most everythign else out. Otherwise oncoming cars frighten me. If a car passes me, when I am going the speed limit, and then persists in sittign right there in the space I am usually focusing on, I get very flustered and upset and irritated. Here's the odd thing: it bothers me the most if the car is white, contrasting with the blackness of the road. That messes with my vision more. If the car is black, it hardly bothers me, but if it's white, I will either ride their @$$ or try to pass them so I can have the road open again. I really do not like other people in my space even in the road....

I think my body space issues have moved into the realm of self-transportation. I think this is why I hate tailgaiters soooooo incredibly much. Had a bitchy pizza delivery person on my tail tonight. I politely waved at her in the mirror twice to request her to get out of my trunk, and then she starts flailing her arms like I am asking her to donate half her liver to a senile 80-year alcoholic! Jebus! And then she continues the ride my tail.

One thing I hate also about my car is that the speedometer doesn't work, so I have to guess what mph I'm doing.

Yep, am going to be making some bumper stickers, myself, as well from an online site. Here are some of my ideas:

1. I BREAK FOR TAILGAITERS
2. Turn signals are not just for decoration.
3. Telephone boothes and car chassies are designed differently for a reason (Get off the DAMN phone!)
4. Support our troops. Not Bush.

Okay, well the last one had little to do with arsshole drivers, but still. I thought of that one while behind so many cars with "Support Our Troops" magnet ribbons, when I decided supporting our troops was absolutley necessary (don't need another Vietnam) but that Bush was an idiot for sending them over there. The whole, don't kill the messenger thingy.

Oh yes, and I hate trucks a lot, too. They smell, they're slow, OR the insane drivers of 18-wheel-semis who are driving 80mph on the highways and don't have the breaking capacity (as far as stopping faster) that cars do.

When I drive, I drive with the flow of traffic, regardless of how fast it's going. Main reason being that people darting in and out of lanes to get around slower people are IMO the reason accidents happen.

Also, I feel that police shouldn't be allowed to shoot radar on busy highways. During my trips back and forth from oshkosh during the school year, I would be on highway 41 from Appleton to Oshkosh. Half of the way the road is three lanes north and south, and traffic is almost always crowded.

Speed on the highway is usually around 75mph. Speed limit is 65. The state patrol will often sit at turn-arounds in the median taking radar. And every time they do this, people coming towards the speed trap invariable will mash on their brakes which creates a rolling traffic jam. I'll be going 75 and then in the space of an 1/8th of a mile, be bumper to bumper going 35 mph.

Scoots, I agree. Keeping an average speed is usually safest. Going too fast will be more likely to cause accidents, while going too slow will be more likely to cause accidents with the fast people recklessly dodging the slow ones.

Old drivers often bother me, too. Usually incredibly slow (which I can sorta understand due to decreased reaction time in older age) and usually fairly reckless, as if they have the right of way in every situation. I really think once someone hits a certain age, there should be a yearly drivers test to make sure they are still safe to drive. Many are like accident-timebombs waiting to go off! BOOM!! ! imo of course

I tend to go with the flow of traffic, too, even if it means speeding. I only drive EXACTLY the speed limit when I am in my van and my husband is following in his pick-up truck. Only because I know it REALLY irritates him. Bwahahahahaha!

When I get tailgated I just progressivly slow down and will drive in third gear just beyond the point of changing down to 2nd gear. Man does this sh*t them off. HAHAHA!! !

They usually find a way to get off my ass then.

Here's a couple of bumper stickers I'd like to make:

I'm not going to risk causing an accident because you are in a hurry!

GET OFF OF THE CELL PHONE OR THE CRACK PIPE, WHICHEVER ONE YOU ARE ON!

I'll have to think about a catchy phrase to advertize free break checks for tailgaters.

I should get a P.A. system like police cars have to address stupidity in front of me as well.

My favorite bumper sticker is "SUPPORT MENTAL HEALTH OR I'LL KILL YOU."

I'd much prefer to drive on a road with no other cars on it. Driving wouldn't be nearly so scary were it not for all the traffic...

yea tailgating gets on my nerves, but really pulls my chest hairs is when someone pulls out on the road in front of me and i'm having to slam on my breaks to avoid hitting the ****sucker, or when i'm approaching an accident which happened along the highway, and EVERYBODY HAS JUST GOT TO SLOW DOWN TO 0.5 MPH TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED LIKE THEY HAVEN'T SEEN A FREAKIN' CAR ACCIDENT IN THEIR LIVES..and it ends up taking me in the neighborhood of 15 minutes just to sloooooowly drive by it..grrr (of course, i see it too but i have no choice since i'm practically stopped)
