Not sure if this is in the right place. It really doesn't fit with media representation or political stuff, soooo, move at will LOL

Short version; we, the people who are disenfranchised by virtue of a quirk of birth, are now being recognized as valuable for our specific strengths.

I think you'll see more of this as people understand the nature of autism better.

And the way to do it....is to be a "part" of the greater world, rather than seek separation from it.

What I find interesting is that it seems to be a 'rediscovery' of what Asperger accomplished in both attitude and science. If I remember correctly, he was instrumental in keeping a lot of people from being killed by promoting their strengths in a socially constructive way.

And I completely agree. To affect change, do it as part of the world and not separated from it. And do it in a way that is not a pity party or militant.

We do have a lot to offer. Pissing off the population isn't the answer. Shake 'em up, yes, but not piss 'em off.

Hmm that is intresting and a good thing to look into, but in that case what potential do people with autism without mathematical strength have? It always seems to come down to the autistics with skills in math specifically are who are being sought out.

I disagree with that. I think the thing about the math is it's the easiest example. There are places here in the US that hire people with Autism because of their focus on many areas.

It's been recognized that matching personalities and interests into the proper areas get good results. Help desks, creative endeavors, etc. It's just trying to break through that.

It will take time though. I have run into a few people in the last few weeks that do not know a damned thing about Asperger's and they're complete a**holes. These were health professionals, hence the vehement language. But those that have a modicum of knowledge actually do things quite well in dealing with me.

It's just a few minor changes in their demeanor and phrasing that makes a world of difference. Now, if I could get that trained into me and it may be a winning combination LOL
