I first heard of PDA last year and first heard of female pattern ASD 3 years ago (a traits list prompted me to seek my ASD dx, which I quite, I think, coolly got on Hallowe'en 2013). It has been a massive and fascinating ongoing journey of discovery for me :)

This is the report of the preliminary results (the questionnaire is still taking responses and is currently at 429).
The results seem to confirm that PDA is definitely an autistic spectrum condition with unique high scoring traits, of which having Jekyll and Hyde behaviour is by no means the only one.

One more page and then I'm done, wether the quiz is finished or not. DAMN! there should be some kind of warning on this.

Thank you for bearing with it, somanyspoons, I know it's long, but it is very worthwhile information, IMO, and gaining insight into PDA that didn't previously exist.

I think my teenage daughter, diagnosed with AS, has this PDA (also or instead?).

If I am in the US, how do I find info/help? My daughter has been pretty much non functional since Dec 2014 due to anxiety. She has not attended school since May 2015. I need to figure out strategies to help her as no doctor or psychiatrist has any clue what's going on except "anxiety".

Thanks!

I do not have pathological demand avoidance, but I have something which I (nick) named "pathological nonconformism (syndrome)". I am by nature very egocentric (tend to have one-sided interaction about my topics) and I am not interested in socialising, developing social skills, gaining abilities which can be useful in job career. I suppose that my sister can have similar condition.

I have no idea whether I have PDA or not, as I know next to nothing about it, I do have autism but I selected "unsure" on the questionnaire because of my uncertainty about PDA. Is there anywhere that I could find out more information about PDA, other than through FaceBook, which I pathologically avoid.

what's the difference between that stuff and schizoid personality disorder and/or adhd?

whatever that pda thing is, if it's valid, then i have it. that questionnaire is pretty vague though. i'm skeptical about it. it sounds a lot like a personality disorder to me (more "nurture" than "nature" = not "a type of autism")

i believe i went through a phase of oppositional-defiant disorder when i was little. i always saw my parents as incompetent figures that i was forced to obey (or forced to at least make it seem like i was obeying them). when i'm told or expected to do something (by anyone, or by "society"), i still have an urge to do the opposite, just because. it can be very compulsive sometimes, and i can get very angry if i can't react, and then depressed if can't express anger for too long. it's one of the major things that make me unemployable, and the main reason why i'm a recluse

i still need to consciously force myself to brush my teeth
