Hi guys, I'm very stressed at this point in time with college. Don't ask me what about college is stressing me out because everything and anything. I, currently, have at least 7 assignments, roughly due in the same time (next week). I'm just feeling very overwhelmed because I can't understand what the assignments are telling me to do. The main thing that has upset me is a quiz I had to do to pass an assignment (there's pass, merret and distinction) so basically you need pass to pass the assignment and pass is a quiz online. The quiz is very non-specific in which I had failed it (rumour has it if you fail an assignment you fail a course) so i'm very upset because I didn't understand what it was telling me to do, so I'm not sure what to do. I'm currently being assessed for aspergers in which i fit most of the criteria.
Secondly I have an assignment due tomorrow of practical things, but because of the crowds and sensory overload I had to take a lot of time outs and so Imissed some work.
Does anyone have any idea in what I can do next? I mean i havent been diagnosed so they'll probably tell me to work harder or something, funny because this course is my direct interest, so i work very hard.

It's not much consolation. But i'm in exactly the same situation. I just don't know what they want from me.

Perhaps you should speak to your head tutor about the problems you are having.

Years ago, while i was on a BA Degree, i was struggling to keep up.
Around this time i had been diagnosed with dyslexia but not ASC.
I had also a history of suffering from anxiety and depression.

The head tutor asked me to get a letter from my doctor, which i did.
This gave me some leeway where it came to deadlines and extensions.

One of the people on my course went a bit nuts during the last year of the Degree and dropped out.
Even he didn't actually fail the course but was given opportunity to complete the course at a later date when life was better for him.

So if you talk to the right people, there are often options that can be put into place if necessary.
So i recommend that you talk to the boss and see what can be done.
Hey, you never know. .it may all work out and no need to stress so much. As after all, its just a course and only a small part of your life.

Talk to your teachers, professors, guidance counselors ...
I wish you the best of luck.

Not sure what kind of access you have to your professors outside of class but if they have "office hours" where you can meet with them I would do that. That way they can clarify any material or instructions for you.

I would also seek accomadations for the areas that are creating difficulty. At the University I went to there was an office where I could go and talk with therapist and request accomodations. It was a process, but once you got it all sorted they notified all of your professors.

I would also try and find ways to get organized. For me my executive function isn't all that great. I always felt like I was doing what was due tomorrow at the last minute and because of that stuff was late, rushed, and not my best effort. It is hard. Best of luck.

Eek-I've been there-feeling in over my head and stressed! Good luck to you. I have nothing to add, except to back up what others have said: get help if you are feeling overwhelmed and stressed. I remember feeling overwhelmed on the first day of school but, when I stepped back and took things one step at a time, I wound up doing all right. I hope things go well for you.

Thankyou all so much for the advice! My mum has emailed my tutor, sadly I had a meltdown due to the stress and change of routine :-( And Sarroura, I'm straight outta' high school, I think school had more support; so utilise it whilst you have it available. College just treats everyone like they're "straight forward learners" or so to speak. Very, very upsetting when they judge you for it, too.
