I don't like them at all because of what the soap can smell like and 1 ply toilet paper and stuff like that so do you like the smell of stuff in restrooms

If they would keep restrooms clean, then I might not mind them.

But many restrooms are not cleaned properly--so they stink.

For those not from the US: The restroom is the washroom, bathroom, toilet, or WC (water closet).

Mens public washrooms are god awful. Breathe through your mouth. Use the furthest stall from the door, or preferably the disability stall. It's usually the cleanest. Just dont even bother with train station washrooms or any public washroom not run by a private business.

What about the toilet paper if it's that industrial 1or2 ply it's just not like the 2ply you can get for home use

Yep....toilet paper does suck in public restrooms.

But at least we get toilet paper in restrooms.

In Italy, there are places which still use the old-fashioned squat toilet. I had the misfortune of being forced to use on near Venice. Toilet paper is not supplied in those bathrooms.

As someone whose job responsibilities include cleaning public bathrooms? The womens' is not really any better most of the time.

I'm not sure if I notice the smell of soap. But the general smell, what ever it is, I don't like. Also often they are too bright and way too noisy. It's like guys go out of their way to be as loud as possible slamming stall doors and such.

Yeah, I don't think anyone likes restrooms.

But I do like the Dyson Airblade, the brand of hand-dryer used in the swankier public toilets. You put your hand in a molded plastic thing and they get blasted with hot air. It's fantastic. They help me appreciate how some people can get obsessed with that sort of thing.

And in Melbourne there are these really fancy toilets, where the doors close automatically and Burt Bacharach music plays while you do your stuff. You don't need to touch the taps or the dryer to wash your hands. It's like taking a dump in the TARDIS.

I don't like public restrooms but have to use them like anyone else. In Uni the restrooms are really clean (mostly). In my flat they are too, thing is right after I clean them they smell perfect and I really feel bad using them... I'm prolly not alone in that.

I think it would be pretty weird if you did love the smell of a public p!sser. They're not exactly renown for their olfactory pleasantness !

I have known many people that choose to endure hours of discomfort, pain, and agony rather then use public facilities.

Haha, this reminds me of the so called vintage electric guitars you can buy nowadays. These are build to look like they have come from a garbage heap, or picked from flotsam-and-jetsam. And yes, you probably have guesed it: they even make guitars like they have been hanging in a public restroom for a decade or so, you know with that yellowish tarnished transparent plastic. Really yucky. I think R&D of these things will have soon created a guitar that not only looks like this but also really smells like a public restroom. Oh, and you have to pay about $3000 for these things and they sound like they look: awful. Ridiculous. Luckily there are still guitar builders that strive towards beauty in sound and looks. 8)

We have a couple of those type of restrooms in New York. The ones that play classical music.
