Researching Autism/Asperger's: What books should I read?
So, in trying to understand myself (or any subject really), I tend to get a ton of books and read them as quick as possible in order to know all I can know. Below I've included a list of books I've gotten from my library or bought in an effort to understand both Autism and Asperger's, (along with strategies and coping skills to help with some of the difficulties I face in my daily life) and arm myself with information before my evaluation (If the Kaiser doctor ever makes an effort to call me back....). I've bolded the titles that I am currently reading and would love to hear any articles or books you found helpful or useful.
Current Book Stack:
- I Think I Might Be Autistic: A Guide to Autism Spectrum Disorder Diagnosis and Self-Discovery for Adults
- The complete guide to getting a job for people with Asperger's Syndrome : find the right career and get hired / Barbara Bissonnette.

Thank you guys in advance and I look forward to reading your suggestions. (Also I feel the gif, at least the book in the gif, is appropriate for the topic/ an homage to the name of the group XD )

You've got a good stack of books already. In general, material written from a first-hand perspective is the most useful.
Here is an excellent and quite unique book that I did not see in your list: http://www.afieldguidetoearthlings.com/
The first book (highlighted) in your list is also a very good one.

I tend to copy the gif below whenever I want to learn something, I try and make sure I have all the books I can at my disposal ( A true Ravenclaw through and through I am XD ). As for first hand accounts, it's been a bit of a challenge, at least when I look at my library. A lot of it is geared towards parents with kids on the lower end of the spectrum and not a lot for those who are higher functioning/ trying to learn more about autism as a whole.

I will definitely have to check that out. I must confess the title of the book made me laugh when I read it. And the first book is a life saver/ got me started on my journey of self diagnosis and working towards an official diagnosis. I found the quiz that she provided on the inside especially helpful and was grateful that it covered as much as it did.
