because i have same behavior sometimes i hit myself in the head, more often banging. sometimes hit my knees/legs in extreme upset and cry

isabella (from helena rutan) sufferes in horrible self-hitting and banging every day and has to wear a helmet regularly to protect her head from her fists do you suffer like that?

When I have a meltdown, sometimes I hit myself on the head, or punch my thighs or shoulders. I don't wear a helmet or any other protective gear, though, because I never seriously injured myself, and it doesn't happen frequently enough to need constant protection. My partner knows how to restrain me in a non-violent way that will help calm me down.

When I read the thread title I immediately thought of some metalheads anonymous type of thing...

When I'm frustrated or overwhelmed it's often very difficult to avoid the urge to either slam my head into things or punch myself or otherwise self-harm in those sorts of ways. I don't know if it's related to ASD, a meme-like behaviour or simply having a poor tolerance for frustration.

Yes, this happens to me frequently during meltdowns. I often get the uncontrollable urge to hit myself repeatedly in the head. I didn't see it much of a problem until my last meltdown just about a week ago, where I actually injured my head, thumbs, and wrists by hitting myself so hard during a fit. Now whenever I feel the urge coming on I rush over to my wife and ask her to squeeze my hands really hard or stuff me into a super tight bear hug until the urge goes away.

I did it to stim and when had meltdowns. My dad forced me to stop after i smashed my head and split it open on a windowsill. This was before my diagnoses. He never liked my head banging but the split head and concussion was the last straw.

The captcha on this site is likely going to cause me to split my head open.

I may or may not have made a rather loud 'urgh' in response to that. That would drive me guano insane. I can deal with people not behaving consistently, but machines acting that way is likely my primary berserk button.

I slap my head and body more than punch myself or bang my head against something. But it does happen.

you guys need to try cbd oils. i tried tonight for the first time and they work great

I smoke, it helps, but it's not a panacea. I'd be willing to try cbd oil or honey oil but they're both more expensive.
