I'm no poet, but this here is one of those spontaneous sharing moments. I wrote this this morning, just trying to figure things out.

The thinker says it's time to leave,
the feeler, time to stay.
The thinker, time to find the truth,
the feeler, time to pray.

The thinker thinks of harder times,
the feeler feels them now.
The thinker tries to think of things
the feeler can't allow.

The battle rages 'tween the two,
more so in night, than day.
The thinker, time to count the odds,
while the feeler sleeps away.

And when those thoughts the thinker thinks
and feelings felt the same
come crashing down within my mind
the house goes up in flame.

Over the moon, but under the stars,
'tis where the gods doth play.
They're needed here, in times of fear,
to put the war at bay.

Pretty pithy :D

Nice, clever poem in meter.

Thank you. And I'd like to say, I think that every time I've posted here, you've responded with a kind, supportive comment. It's appreciated, sir.

Writers, especially in the 18th-19th centuries, always had battles between "head and heart."

My whole life, I've always felt like there were at least 2 people living in my head. Not a multiple personality kind of thing, I knew they were all me, but they didn't cooperate with each other very well. Since finding out about this autism, I finally understand why. Now if the doctors would get off their butts and give me an official diagnosis, I'd be happy. I was tested 3 weeks ago and not only do I not have the results, I have no idea when I'm going to get them. The doc just says "there aren't any appointments right now, you're on the top of our list, we'll call when one opens up."

Sorry, I'm babbling.

If you read the correspondence of somebody like George Washington, you'll see the battles between "head" and "heart" all over the place.

This battle was a part of romance in those days, and is part of romance these days, too (denials notwithstanding).

You should expand your writing. Not a bad poem for a guy not being a poet.

Do you have a girl whom you really, really like? You could use her as a Muse.

I do have a girl like that. Unfortunately, she's my ex-fiance and she's living with the new boyfriend. :-) She is still currently my best friend though, so I can't complain too much. Maybe there's a poem in that whole mess.

Edit: And now that you mention it, I've always been addicted to biographies and I can completely see what you mean about that time frame. I'd never thought of it before.

There's always a poem in romantic messes LOL.

Why do you think we have popular music? Romantic messes--that's why!
