Has anyone used these services?

http://www.altaregional.org/

I have autism, with a diagnosis, but I'm afraid that they will think I'm too high-functioning, as this PDF mentions:

There's a good chance you will be eligible if you can get across to them how you are unable to care for yourself, live independently, get & keep a job, etc. Be sure to mention any prior hospitalizations, diagnosis, etc..

From:
http://www.dds.ca.gov/general/Eligibility.cfm

(l) (1) “Substantial disability” means the existence of significant functional limitations in three or more of the following areas of major life activity, as determined by a regional center, and as appropriate to the age of the person:
(A) Self-care.
(B) Receptive and expressive language.
(C) Learning.
(D) Mobility.
(E) Self-direction.
(F) Capacity for independent living.
(G) Economic self-sufficiency.

Hello,

The California Regional Centers now considers the Autism Spectrum as criteria for eligibility for services. Yet, many service providers are largely geared towards serving special needs clientele. Hence, a disadvantage of "not being disabled enough" - that awful "never-never land of sorts!"

RELATED:

The CA Regional Centers consider self-advocacy as an option. ASAN supports "self advocacy" and has a few chapters throughout California e.g., Sacramento, SF Bay Area.
