Hello - our pediatrician confirmed last week that we needed to get our 16 month old daughter evaluated for autism. There are scores of agencies and firms in the area that provide evaluations and therapy. How do I have any idea of the quality of these businesses? Is there a way to look up "references" to these types of services?

Hi I am from houston as well , first thing yu need to do is to take an appt with the SUTUSM center at the texas children hospital for evaluation , you will get the best advice there in how to proceed if necessary .dont let them rip you off with unnecessary examinations like genetic or what have you because they could not decipher anything from it, it's still a research science . Do the blood works and the usual child check up, and see what they will say ( most probably a wait and see approach ) . I have been through this with my daughter and I know it . You can ask me anything anytime in this regard , good luck .
