Hi,

I would like to ask what experiences people have from dealing with different kinds of administrators (such as those at the Unemployment Agency for example). How do they treat you? Are you being taken seriously? What knowledge and/or prejudices do they have regarding ASD? Do they accept your difficulties/disabilities, or do they try to make you "fit into the frame" like everybody else.

I have to say that my local jobcentre has been fantastic. I spoke to the staff there about being under the care of a psychiatrist and they were very understanding. They told me that my own mental health was more important than finding a job and I really appreciated that. I understand that other jobcentres however are not as understanding, but I think it just depends on the person you speak to. I'm not with them anymore as I got a job but they were great.
