Do you appear 'confused' at all?

Many people have remarked in the past about how 'out of it' I look. If you've seen the expression Adam Lanza or James Holmes had before the shootings -- then it's remarkably similar to that (but no don't worry, I'm not gonna shoot up anyone). I've had this so-called "autistic gaze" ever since childhood, however as I've gotten older it's only been getting worse. Chances are it likely has something to do with why I always catch people staring at me for no real reason.

I know certain disorders such as Schizotypal Personality Disorder (which I sometimes believe I also have) sport this "hallmark" gaze, but I was wondering was if this is part of having an ASD too?

I mean talk about feeling like a freak .

Apparently I look high most of the time. Heh. But yeah, this is not an uncommon occurrence for people on the spectrum... the 'aspie eyes' thing. If I recall correctly, a lot of us spectrumy folks fall into one of two categories, either we look spaced out/high or have really wide open surprised/staring type eyes. Not that everyone has this going on, but yeah, it is common enough.

Yeah I tend to look spaced out and not all there. I am always surprised when I catch a glimpse of my reflection unexpectedly, or see myself on video, because I don't look like what I think I look like. And I hate seeing photos of myself.

Plus people will ask me "are you sure?" over the most trivial things and tell me that I look unsure or confused.

As I said in another thread, sometimes I'm actually just dumbfounded that other people can be so dense. LOL

People don't really tell me that I look confused, but some people treat me like I'm not all there and some of them also seem to reassure me more than most people. There have also been times where I would be off guard and see myself in the mirror with a weird look on my face.

I don't use a lot of facial expressions unless I consciously think of doing so in a conversation. This has led to people explaining things on and on and on as they thought I didn't look like I understood.

More like I actually am confused all the time XD

Jokes aside, I too have the issue of looking spaced out most of the time, even though I am always very aware of my surroundings. Not foccusing my eyes helps me see more around me, and also makes ot easier to focus on sounds, so I dont often focus my vision when having conversations so I can pay more attention to what the other person is saying.

I always ponder how I would react if something catastrophic were to occur before me. I am certainly not the man to go to in the time of a crisis.

When I'm in a store, hospital, library or other public place I sometimes pause to decide where to go next. When I do this people often assume I'm lost and offer to help.

I am confused much of the time. Probably explains the look on my face.

Rather, appearing as if I want to say something is the deal sometimes. Confusion may just be silence from me.

Often I look like that but usually because I'm really focused on something or am getting disoriented again.

My mom always says I look "out of it" or "dazed"

I'll tell you when I get home in about 1 hour and a half

about a hour and a half later It seems blank of expression. Like I can't tell what but I know something is missing. Yeah now that I see some pictures of what it looks like yeah thats it. [/color]
