ok, who all here is from Washington state or at least has lived in Washington state for a major period in their life? please [if you feel like it] check your preferred closest state city [poll only allows 20 selections so I had to leave some out] in the attached poll. thank you :flower:

please also describe your stories of living in Washington state and if you came here from other states, what brought you here to Washington. :)

be aware also that if you live in the I-5 corridor between Olympia and Seattle, there is a Square Pegs Aspie Meetup Group available for your consideration.

Moved to Snohomish County two years ago. Live on a peninsula between the sound and the river. I love it here. Walk alongside the sea, walk alongside the river, walk through the woods. Live in a cool 100 year old house.

Ah good views of Mt. Rainer. It's pretty far off where I am. Good view of Mt. Baker though.

I don't know if I've ever seen baker in the flesh, though mt. rainier looms over south Puget sound and is visible whenever not blocked by tall trees or other mountains/hills. the Japanese emigrants who moved to Tacoma early last century referred to mt. rainier as "Tacoma Fuji." although, to my seeing, I think Fuji is a prettier mountain, perfectly conical- whereas mt. rainier looks to me like it has blown its stack a few too many times.

Thank you, Kind Sir.

Stan Laurel was an honorary resident of the South, even though the closest to the South he ever went was South London

That's interesting. I've always thought it looks kind of like Mt Fuji. My grandparents live near Portland so I visited the Puget Sound area lots of times before finally moved here. I had a very vivid dream of standing on some road with a perfect view of Rainier and it suddenly exploding and flaming chunks of ice landing around me. Let's hope I'm not clairvoyant.

I can never say I've lived in South Queens, though--except that 15-month period in the 1970s when I lived in Far Rockaway, which is extreme southeast Queens.

There's one very prominent poster who lives near Spokane: Kraichgauer.

He seems a nice guy.

I live in Fife Wa. which zip code comes up as Tacoma Wa.. Beautiful but very scary view of Mount Ranier. Ezra, you may be thinking of Mount St. Helens which prior to blowing it's stack was a perfectly conical volcano similar to Mt. Fuji.

I live along the Puyallup river which is in the area that the mud flows would go in the event of an eruption of Mt. Ranier. That makes it a very scary situation. It''s kind of like living with the beauty & the beast rolled up into one being. Mt. Ranier looms large even at 50+ miles away.

You are also about 5-6 miles from Washington Heights!

Overall, I don't see Eastsound or Orcas Island in the poll (not that I live there, but a friend does).
