I've always wondered this, because my sensory issues really take the win. I feel hair move on my head, arms, legs and even my toes. I can feel my heart beat and can feel blood flow in unusually places. I also have hypersensitivity to visual and auditory. Auditory doesn't always have to be loud, it can be constant and several things happening at once.
But, I have a hyposensitivity to touch, unless I'm on the verge of a meltdown or having one.

I want your opinion if you think SPD is a disability. Or if you think yours is.

I definitely think it is a disability, but my sensory symptoms are better explained by AS.

Huh, I thought they were the same except the person with SPD has no other symptoms of autism or not enough for the diagnosis.

I've been diagnosed with AS. But, for some reason, I'm so confused right now. :?

You're right. But part of the criteria for ASD states that there can be hypo- or hyper- reactivity to stimuli in the environment. The thing I was getting at is: Why have another disability when it is better explained by one? Sorry, I should have worded that better!

I have no idea. I think I put the title wrong. SPD with AS.

I'm pretty sure you can have a comorbid diagnosis of AS and SPD, if that's what you mean. It is just sometimes better explained by just an ASD diagnosis, as that encompasses the sensory processing problems in the definition.

I see what you mean. No point giving out a alphabet soup diagnosis when it's all one thing.

Yeah :D . The only problem comes when you don't know what the one thing is! That's where the NOS labels come into play.
