That happens at times; there are some spam bots that target the larger discussion websites.
Sometime they get trough the filters

This same spam/spammer has been happening in many different forums for a very long time now.

This used to not happen and this has now been happening for like the past two years now? If there were no mods here and Alex had totally abandoned this place and all the mods had left and moved on, this forum would be dead because this place would be filled with spam spam spam and everyone would have eventually left and gone elsewhere leaving this place a spam forum.

We've actually cut down on the amount of spam. Before it was happening every day, multiple times a day. Now we've implemented filters that have significantly cut down on the amount of spam. Unfortunately they sometimes get through still.
