While I spent a week or so reading some of the background posts here, I've only been a member for a few days. And yet I feel so "at home" here, it's making me feel like I'm a kid again. Possibly due to all the younger people here, but it's been a long time since I've felt this comfortable. I've noticed that I've been posting a lot - and it's not to shamelessly build up my post count since I could care less about that. It's more of a feeling of wanting to share my experiences and thoughts in the hope that someone may find value in them. I fear that at times this could come across as patronizing or arrogant since no doubt MANY people on here are far better informed on the subect of AS than I. But that's not my intent. I think that as Aspie's we're naturally shy and frequently reticent to speak up in public settings - even online ones where we're safe behind our monitors - and I suppose I'm using the "newcomer" euphoria to overcome some of that and try to contribute. At least I hope it's taken that way. Seems the least I can do, given that my short time here has already helped me understand myself better than I have in decades!

The offbeat humor helps too. Truly a wild and crazy bunch and my kind of folks!

Esperanza, are you quoting Eddy from Ed, Edd, and Eddy? LOL

I love that cartoon series. At first the wriggly lines threw me for a loop, but I got used to it.

As an adult who had pretty much given up on finding people I could relate to....I posted the heck out of WP when I joined...it became number one obsession to finally have a comunity.I also felt sad when I posted a thread and not many responded,so I started posting on every thread because I didnt want anyone to feel left out...lol.

I had to "cut back" a bit(eating and sleeping, you know),but I am still addicted after a year....trying to break away a little but I have to come back daily to see how everyone is doing....and I need a good laugh.Like the humor here.Like not feeling like such a freak(or at least not alone in my freakdom.)It did take me suprise that all aspies are not superior humans.... 8O but as a group, they certainly suit me better then most the people I have met in RL.

Glad your enjoiing it and dont worry about people thinking your a "post hoar"....we save that sacred honor for Cosmiccat(I think)

Just kidding.....love ya,CC....

No. John F. Kennedy once accidentally said "I am a jelly doughnut" in German during a speech in West Berlin. He was trying to say, "I am a Berliner," but languages have many idiosyncrasies and the translation was a little off.

The exact quote is, "Two thousand years ago the proudest boast was civis romanus sum [I am a Roman citizen]. Today, in the world of freedom, the proudest boast is 'Ich bin ein Berliner'...All free men, wherever they may live, are citizens of Berlin, and, therefore, as a free man, I take pride in the words 'Ich bin ein Berliner!'" -Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ich_bin_ein_Berliner
