I am going to my doctor in a few days, and honestly, he sucks at his job. He seems like he has no clue what he is talking about, makes references and metaphors that make no sense and sometimes even ask me or my parents if we want him to remove a diagnosis that was just given to me, by him, accurately (even though he is a medical "professional")
We are having this bigger meeting thing and i am just dreading it, but to make it more fun i have made a checklist that i can check off when i have predicted what will happen correctly, but either way, not really the way i'd like to spend my afternoon.
Does anyone have any tips?
Some other people will be there as well and they dont believe i have asd (because i could tell the differences between someone crying and someone who is laughing), any tips on just how to not get too anxious?

Most ordinary Jo blow doctors or psychatrists don't understand anything but the low functioning portion of the autism spectrum. I once had this incompetent psychiatrist claim that I couldn't possibly be on the autism spectrum because I articulate myself well. Another couldn't possibly understand why I would need a diagnosis if there was no treatment (he was too stupid to understand the value of a diagnosis beyond treatment).

Come prepared with notes preparing to argue your case of why you believe you have autism. Print off notes from autism/Asperger's organizations regarding traits and proper descriptions of the autism spectrum.

Don't be afriad to call out your doctor straight up if he/she tries to feed you a load of baloney. Understand too that some doctors are just too stupid/incompetent/poor listeners and those cannot be bargained with, or reasoned with. Consider them a lost cause, stop seeing them. I remember coming across this excellent quotation which read "Never waste your time trying to explain who you are to people who are committed to misunderstanding you."

Seek out a doctor who specifically specialises or has experience with patients on the autism spectrum, especially high functioning adults.
