I am an educated Aspie who has a unique name. No one in the world has it. I didn't even realise I was an Aspie until I was 30. I've been targeted for my political activism and general suspicious Aspie behaviour by an unsafe country and have had to seek asylum. My problem is that everyone who hires will do a background check and they will google all the cyber bullying and smears that have been done against me. I don't know if it is possible to change name in today's world and how records will be updated and I am not sure if I can get a job, even meet people. Everyone googles these days. I'm getting broke and on the verge of suicide.
Please help

Firstly, please don't kill yourself. Hold on. Please.
There are ways for people to legally change their names. I have never looked into it, but I know it exists. You would need to approach the government of the country of which you are a citizen.

About employment, I have never been employed myself, but would you be able to get a casual job in the meantime? They might not do background checks, if it's a very small business or minor role. It probably wouldn't use your education, but at least could provide you with an income. I don't really know what your situation is, so it's a bit hard for me to give advice.

I would think that first priority would be to pursue a name change, because then you will have more freedom. Sorry that I haven't been very helpful.
Good luck! :D

You got this, dude.

Background checks don't usually mean googling your name or doing a facebook search, so try to relax yourself on that. It's possible to dig dirt up on almost anyone, but none of it is provable if it's from a flame post on a forum, or a hate-filled tweet. No reputable employer would pay any attention to such things, even if they did feel like crossing a highly visible line as an employer in trying to dig into your personal history.

Perhaps consider constructing a snappy explanation for the smears. It will make you feel better knowing you have something to say, even if you never have to use it. "I fell out with a very bad person who conducted a hate campaign against me for years", or something similar.

Employer's don't usually have to sit in the same room as you or even like you. If you can do the job reliably, why would they care about what you believe in, or what others think about you?

This country has subsidies for the rehabilitation of ex-convicts and other disaffected people; I have personally oriented many, who could hardly be called prisoners of conscience.

Also, someone with similar, political leanings may just have better luck than you and show solidarity.

I respect that you consider it sensitive, but you may have to reach out.

OP has cross posted this, it can remain open in only one forum so this is being locked.
