Since childhood I simply cannot even taste onions. I immediately throw them up, as soon as I feel them in my mouth. Besides, I had some gastric issues (gastritis and ulcer, and almost everyday I have gastric reflux which forces me to always have cold water near me). Just curious to understand the relationship between these topics as I just learned that Autism Speaks website links AS/ASD with gastric issues, but I am not sure what my problem with onions has to do (or not) with it.

Have you looked up the Specific Carbohydrate Diet and the GAPS Diet? They are both recommended for people with Asperger's syndrome.

I don't know if that will be helpful but you might find answers there. Many people think there is a link between Asperger's and the stomach.

Ulcers should never be ignored. They are caused by the bacteria H.pylori. If untreated, it can lead to stomach cancer...

Thanks for all answers. I would also like to know if you have any issues related to eating onions. It is impossible for me - the taste of onions makes me feel so bad I have to take it from my mouth. Does this situation have anything to do with AS/ASD?
