Does anybody else feel that even although they struggle to connect and establish relationships with other people, they still desperately want to do so?

All I want is to be able to get close to someone, but feel like the opportunity never presents itself. (Or i'm just not able to detect it)

It makes me feel sad. :(

That's been the biggest issue I've had all my life, I've rarely felt a connection with anyone much less a deep one. It makes for a very lonely existence but I keep trying and learning more about myself is helping me do that.

Yeah I feel like that too. I really hope things get better for you.

It's horrible feeling lonely. To feel like you've made a connection with someone can be the best feeling in the world.

Yes, the feeling is mutual. This is mainly why I'm so frustrated and upset with people. However, when you DO finally manage to see a connection forming, they always seem to leave. More upsetting and rather it never happened in the first place!

yeah man, you're are not alone in this boat. For me there is a yurning to connect with people. I have been able to do it on a few rare occassions. But the other 98ish % of the time I feel like situations are like two magnets of the same pole pushing away from each other. they are close, but an unseen force is present preventing it. the story of my life.

This is exactly it. The closer you try to get to someone, the further they seem to drift away. It's as if you're not allowed to get close to anyone, or share the same special kind of relationships that NT's share with one another. But there is never any understanding as to why this happens. We're obviously doing something wrong, but can never figure out what it is that is pushing people away. :|

Thanks. I wish I knew what it felt to really have that special connection with someone. But I always seem to blow it before any kind of relationship can be established on that level.

Seems to be a common theme between all of us. As you say, it's like there is some unseen force that is meddling in our lives and preventing us from connecting.

I know exactly what you mean.

It's so difficult to find that connection as we are autistic and kinda shite socially, how does it begin when everything about us seems to prevent it?

I dunno mate.
We still have to keep looking, you never know.
