How does one reliably tell the difference?

Right now I'm picturing a Venn Diagram and I reckon I fit somewhere in the middle?

Maybe Santa can bring me some motivation for Christmas!

I want to want to do things if that makes sense? So really what I'm saying is I don't want to do anything that isn't without immediate interest or reward but I don't like what that must say about me as a person.

laziness is what rightie NTs call autistic inertia, and I would ignore anybody who called me that. procrastination is a valid coping strategy, to a point. it buys one mental/psychological breathing room.

Laziness is having the energy, but not the interest.
I'm not sure what having the interest, but not the energy is... depression maybe?

I hope Santa has some motivation for me too.

my laziness lacks both interest and energy. when it is depression I can't even get outta bed.

i've never heard the term "autistic inertia".

i think procrastination is having both the time and energy, but diminished interest. (not complete absence of interest)

right now, im procrastinating on signing up for next semester's classes. i have the time and resources, but just don't want to deal with that stress right now. it's bloody christmas.

i'm also too...depressed to participate in my family's white elephant game.

i'd rather be doodling, and i am.

this is the first year I've heard of people playing the "white elephant" game, is this a new thing?

The concept of a "white elephant" (an extravagant, but burdensome gift) has been around for nearly 200 years, but it's unclear when it was applied to modern competitive gift exchanges (also known as "Yankee swap").

My great aunt began a tradition of this in my family over 2 decades ago, and I know she didn't create it, so it's safe to say it's been around a good while.
