I am a mom of a 6 year old boy diagnosed with pdd-nos now (autism).
He was recently evaluated and the results were score of 37.5- Severely autistic
I dont believe hes severe, He just has a few delays but who knows, i am still trying to understand the levels and what they mean.
As a paren, we all want whats best for our kids, so i would like to hear from many of you about your thoughts on this topic and how are you dealing with this as an adult.

Thank you so much for your time and thoughts.

I think that the important thing is he gets the support and intervention to help him reach his potential. That matters more than the level rankings do. The levels are just there to give a general idea of the whole picture.

I was diagnosed severe from age 2 (almost 3) to age 10. Then I was upgraded to level 2 because I was performing better. If in doubt go for a second opinion. Autism is very tricky to figure out. Sometimes kids perform worse on tests and evaluations than they appear to perform in person to those who understand them well. I score high in some areas and low in others. It's a mixed bag.

Being given Level 1 for fluent speech; even with help, my impairments are still noticably seen. I scored 39. I have dyspraxia which messes with the words I say.
