Clinic disagreeing with ASD dx and insurance issues
I know that this is a silly question, but there is a clinic that wants to re-evaluate my daughter before offering her services. They do this with all of their clients.
My 7 year old received her medical diagnoses of ASD from a reputable clinic last fall. She also has an IEP under ASD at school.
She can make decent eye contact and there are days where I think she could go through an ADOS eval and wind up not scoring high enough for a dx. However, nobody who has worked with her for any significant period of time has ever questioned if she's autistic.
Since she can be very social and I know that girls are often misdiagnosed - if this clinic decided that she doesn't fit the criteria of ASD - would that cause issues with insurance covering her supportive services? She had medical assistance as a back up funding source.
