i'll be moving 4 hours away and i have a fear that i'll be missing out on things that are happening where i am now. i live in my hometown and i don't like the feeling of leaving that part in the past.

i said i'll give myself a year in this new place and if i wanted to move back to my hometown then i have to motivate myself within that year to move back, but i always have a fear of not moving back at all. i don't know if i would like living 4 hours away so i don't want to create lasting friendships that i know probably won't matter if i move back.

what do i do?
should i just suck it up and stay for as long as i can or move back to my hometown in a year?

Why are you moving in the first place?

my parents are retiring and they thought it would be a good idea for me to move with them to our vacation home because they don't think i'll be able to live independently on my own where i am now.

IMO If you think your ready to branch out on your own , don't move and give it a go , if it doesn't work you can always move in with your folks. Nothing ventured nothing gained :D
