Hello,

Lately, I've attempted to gauge "the pulse" of the General Autism Disc. Forum "yes, I know, GOOOOOD Luck!"

Discussions come, and go too quickly on such a diverse forum; hence attempts to select, and highlight specific topics receiving posts over the past few days.

Enclosed is a selected list of five topics that piqued my interest. The list is by no means complete:

Do You Tell People?
viewtopic.php?t=337809

Any Asperger Activists???
viewtopic.php?t=337136

Do You Have Your Life Figured Out?
viewtopic.php?t=337316

Can A NeuroTypical be a Genius?

ADDENDUM (or quoting my own post):

As mentioned in my previous post, discussions come, and go too quickly.

One common thread stands out with the selected six topics. They all begin with a question.

A survey of 150 topic in the 'General Autism Discussion' Forum showed that over one-third of all topics began with a question. Hence, it's kind of satisfying to exclude two-thirds of all topics to gauge "the pulse" of this Forum. Yet, again, there are no "hard and fast rules" as to what specific content might pique our interest!

Please feel free to add an important topic topic that begins with a statement. I cannot help but refer to ancient wisdom that favors 'questions' as a means to wisdom and enlightenment; as opposed to just 'answers.'

The important thing here is that these topics seem like some of the many concerns which people feel "hard pressed" to put to words:

Here is an additional topic of interest to the Autism Spectrum:

Would You Rather Go Out, or Have People Over at Your House?

I don't really understand what you are trying to say.

Why hasn't anyone else bothered to reply to this thread? I think you are trying to make an intriguing point. I just don't understand quite what your point is. What does gauge mean?

I haven't understood any of the OPs posts.

I feel as though the OP is pushing us to answer posts on topics which he considers haven't had enough discussion.
Is that correct?

I figured he was just trying highlight topics that capture the overall WP zeitgeist.
Ironically, this would mean featuring the least unusual topics though, I guess.

Thank-you Exuvian,

In short, I'm attempting to "make sense" of a dynamic, fast paced forum!

I'm attempting to capture the zeitgeist of the 'General Autism Discussion' Forum through listing a small sample of the well......."lesser usual" (not so active) topics; that is those topics which tend to be subconsciously in the "back of the minds" of the Asperger community, yet topics which can be every bit as important as the usual (active) topics.

It is somewhat misleading to mention topics that "pique my interest" - that is, I'm most interested in favoring topics that boost both consensus, and progress in the Asperger community. Hence, pointing out overlooked "lesser usual" topics might just "break the ice so to speak!"

I don't "gauge" anything.

I respond to anything that I feel is worth responding to.

Ah, so it's a highlighting/cataloging of the more novel subjects/ideas as they appear, than what's being (re)discussed overall. I like the idea even more now.

I don't gauge anything on WP, either. I post freely in the threads that resonate with me.

Guys, he's not asking anyone to "gauge" anything. This is just his project to highlight some threads featuring new(ish) subjects & responses at a given time. Nothing is being requested of the WP audience.

It's almost like he doesn't think we have brains or something.

But if his intention is to emphasize less-active threads, then it's okay.

I'm starting to find it annoying, TBH. I don't think this is to do with the importance of topics, just that he seems to hate them becoming lost.

I know, in another post of his I said I didn't understand why he was getting so concerned over it.
