I know no one online can give me a diagnosis but sometimes it helps to get an idea via feedback of whether you are pitching in the zone (to use a baseball analogy) to express your thoughts on the matter.

Unfortunately I think I would have a very uphill struggle to get a professional assessment.
The A word has been bandied about a few times but arranging an assessment has never been offered/suggested.
Everything seems to be attributed to the psychiatric illness as though that gives the most plausible explanation of things.

I think if they were readily agreeable to arranging an assessment they would have done so before.

Pressing for one is tricky given past accusations when I sought more help.("Awkward, demanding and troublesome", " Very dependent narcissist" ,"Illness Machiavellian in it's complexity" that have been hurled at me which I don’t want to be subjected to again.
It is very much a case of waiting for them to have the intelligence and insight to see that an assessment for it might be advisable.
Given the lack of such intelligence I’m not building up my hopes that a light bulb will suddenly come on .

I would ask your GP if an assessment could be arranged. Don't wait for the next conversational opportunity. You understand yourself better than anyone else. If you believe something is different, become your own best advocate and ask for an assessment; it doesn't have to be fancy, just a direct "can you refer me to an autism assessment?". But, we have all read about how long the wait for an assessment is with the NHS. And, self-paying for one is usually out of reach for most people who aren't royal. Good luck with your hopes.

The Asperger service at my local mental health trust says it's a 2 year wait for an assessment.
As my block of flats is due to be demolished and my step daughter is trying to get me moved near her from Essex to Wiltshire (lots of anxiety over the logistics of moving and the change involved on my part even though she has said she'll help and won't let me go under) I will not be in the area by then.

Then go to the one in the new area.
