Medication?
I have come to a point, again during which i think i need medication (and other therapies) to help with the daily frustration i feel.
The frustration leads to meltdowns and shutdowns.
Mom and I will speak to doctor about medication possibilities, but i was wondering what you opinions are and if you have/are taking medication for meltdowns/shutdowns or frustration?

I wasn't aware you could take a medication for frustration.
Do you mean some sort of tranquilizer? Or mood stabilizer? Is that what you intend to take for meltdowns? It may be effective for the latter, but I don't see how a tranquilizer would be effective for shutdowns in my experience. If anything in shutdown, I get slower and much more out of it - not an effect that would be aided by being drugged up on a tranquilizer. I suppose it would depend on what leads to shutdown for you as an individual. But in my experience, not worth the side effects and chemical dependency.
I was on anti-depressants for a time to prevent the neural pathways forming created by intense pain, which could have led to phantom pain later on, according to the specialist, but never for ASD.

Low-Verbal.
I take antidepressants for anxiety. Doesn't make much sense, depression for anxiety. But somehow it helps with anxiety? I don't know this stuff.
I find that as soon as I'm taken off the medication I go insane. Literally insane. My mind gets all funky and I start having delusions and I don't think clearly like I used to. When I was younger before my mind broke I didn't need medication, now I don't think I can function without it. It's not the medication that caused this though, it's just age.

Mood stabilizer or an antipsychotic which are common prescriptions for the anxiety, meltdowns, frustration and irritability associated with autism.
