I recently started blogging again (after my diagnosis). I want to get to the point where I can openly and comfortably talk about my diagnosis because I want my son to be that comfortable with his. This is VERY hard for me as I have social anxiety, was bullied a lot as a child and have had issues with other adults not "getting" it. I've been lurking here (after an intro post) and finally got up the guts to post some replies to things today.

So the point of this is that my first step to getting comfortable enough to talk about being on the spectrum myself was to write up a "What is Austism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)?" blog post. It's here: http://thewyldlife.blogspot.com/2017/05 ... r-asd.html

I was just wondering if I could get some feedback? My blog doesn't have a lot of subscribers and I just want to know if I got the basics down or if I missed anything major somehow before I actually share it around. I did a lot of research before and after my son was diagnosed, but that was several years back. I read up on stuff as I was writing it also.

Also any suggestions on how to write up an "I was diagnosed at 40 with ASD" blog post (what to include/avoid) would be greatly appreciated. Not that I would necessarily title it that, but that would generally be the gist of it.

Thanks!

I like the absence of Autism jargon such as neurotypical. While there are many supports it varies a lot by location and the age you are.

I would recommend you think about what age group you are targeting?
Are you writing this hoping that your son would be able to read it and relate to you to be more comfortable or another age group?

Thank you both. I did consider who I was writing for. The goal was to write a general overview that would be accessible and readable by the general population who knows little to nothing about autism spectrum disorder. The goal was mainly to sort out all the details in my head so that it would all be readily available to answer questions people might ask me. I also wanted something I was ok linking to in the future when people asked for basic information.
