This summer, I am going to be working as a councilor at a camp specifically for people with a wide range of disabilities. The campers stay on site for each session, participating in a several activities over the course of the week.

This will my first experience doing anything of the like. I was hoping that I could get some advice here from people who have either done this, gone to such a camp or been in a similar situation in any way. I would appreciate any helpful input. Thank you.

The biggest thing to remember is that no matter how much fun they seem to be having, all kids are at their most vulnerable and anxious in away-from-home experiences, especially overnight. This is the real reason they avoid going to sleep, even if it seems like they are just wanting to play.

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind.

Also, you're mentioning children reminded me something I forgot to add. Each session has a different age group but the age range is from 5-90 years old.
