Anyone here ever gotten in trouble with the police?

A few weeks ago, when I was in the bus in Surrey BC I asked an elderly man I knew if I could have his seat. Another woman didn't mind her own beeswax and commented that I shouldn't do to someone elderly. I got into a verbal fight with her, giving fingers, and I followed her up to the skytrain and she called me ret*d and a piece of garbage. I gave her a small shove and the police said I will have to be fingerprinted on June 20th. I might have to do community service. Does anyone think I'm a bad person? I've been acting better on public transit now.

That lady was right about you shouldn't be asking an elderly to give up their seat. Elderlies are old and need to sit because their balance isn't good like the rest of us because they're old or because they are weak to stand like everyone else. You also don't ask a blind person to give up their seat or someone who is obviously handicapped or someone who is pregnant. Also I don't even know if it's even appropriate to ask anyone to have their seat unless you're an elderly or disabled or pregnant. But if you have a invisible disability that affects your balance, then you would have to disclose it so they don't think you're entitled.

I have never really been in trouble with the police but only got a false arrest but charges were dropped and they were just volunteer officers so they were not even trained.

If you knew him and needed to sit down because you were I'll then it makes sense and isn't bad. But with the lady you would have been best off ignoring her rather than escalating things.

I've only been in trouble once for "reckless driving" because I was driving really fricken fast on the highway.

I've been pulled over for turning left and getting in the right lane of the street I was entering, despite no laws or signs specifying which lane you need to be in, and again for the license plate light being out, but it wasn't even out.

The police department in my town is a joke, and practically a terrorist organization.

I don't really see getting a ticket or being pulled over as being in trouble with the police. It's just a ticket you're getting or a warning. Unless you were arrested, then yeah.

Reckless driving is a class one misdemeanor/criminal offence where I live. You could serve jail time for it. So yea.

As a matter of personal curiosity, why did you ask for someone's seat?

Not true. She might not have known you and the man were already acquainted, but she knew his personal space and comfort were being challenged and she spoke up as an advocate on his behalf.


That does not make you a bad person, as such, but all of that does represent an act of criminal assault. None of us can ever threaten the "life, liberty and/or property" of another without consequence.

I have only ever been arrested twice, and both times were when I actually went to the police on my own after having committed a crime. The first time was when I was looking for help with an addiction problem -- chronic alcoholism -- and the second was mostly because I was looking for protection from retaliation after having done a payback to a bully.
