just in case anyone has noticed, I have not been around much for the past week or so...the reason is that I have an entrapped ulnar nerve in my left arm and have no feeling in fingers 4 and 5 of my left hand. This makes typing rather difficult and laborious, and I am not supposed to put anymore undue stress on my left arm from the elbow down until this problem is resolved. ...so I guess I am to be reduced to lurking here for awhile

Hope you feel better soon, stlf! Come back when you're better because I don't think anyone here wants you to hurt yourself any more. If you need to say something, try typing with one hand. It really isn't that bad, once you get used to it! ;)

Wow, I had exactly this problem about a year ago. In my left arm too. My hand and the last couple fingers were numb all the time. I would wake up in the morning and my left hand would be so stiff that I couldn't close it. This was going on for about 6 months before I finally went to a chiropractor. He popped my elbow and the numbness went away immediately, never to return. What really gets me is that if I had gone to a GP they most likely would have sent me for surgery or some other unnecessary procedure that most likely would have just resulted in more problems.

He also told me how to sit properly and to adjust my monitors up to eye level. Since I spend a lot of time at the computer this has seemed to keep the problem from returning (although I still don't know if the problem was from that or weight training).

That makes my carpal tunnel syndrome feel a lot better.

I hope you feel a lot better soon and come back.
