Do I have autism?

Hello,

Two of my daughters got diagnosed with autism and I asked Kaiser to do an autism panel test on one of them (the one who has coverage with Kaiser). She ended up with a SCN1A gene variation and we decided to check the rest of the family. Turns out me and my son have the same genetic variation but Kaiser doesn't know what it means exactly and my son was never diagnosed. They said he was social even though he had other symptoms. Anyway, we still have to check our other daughter
To see if she has the same variation in that gene.

Does anyone on here have a variation in their SCN1A gene??? If so, do you have autism???

There isn't any "autism gene" found yet, in fact people don't even know if it is hereditary yet, so anyone saying otherwise is simply a snake oil salesman after your money.

There are multiple sets of genes associated with Autism. Environmental factors are believed to play are a role in combination with genetics. If you have family members that are autistic you are more likely to be autistic.

Autism is diagnosed based on multiple traits and behaviors. If you fit the criteria you are autistic.

Is your life being impaired your traits? If they are you need to seek help to find the cause be it autism or some other condition. If not live your life. The same concept applies to your kids.
