My weighted blanket has stitching across it every 6 inches or so that divides it into square pockets that contain the weighted filler material. The idea is clearly that this way the material stays in the pockets and thus remains evenly dispersed. But it doesn't work. Over the course of a year, all the material has migrated to the edges of the blanket.

I'm having a hard time trying to get the weighted material to disperse evenly again. Shaking it does nothing, really, and besides, I'm not strong enough to shake a 25lb blanket for very long. Anyone got any ideas?

So are you saying the stitching between the pockets has come undone allowing the filler to wander to the edges of the entire blanket? If so, it sounds like poor construction to begin with. And in such a scenario, yes it would near impossible to get it back in place.

If you or someone close to you can use a sewing machine, they aren't that difficult to make. Time consuming yes but the difficulty level is low. You could use the filler from your present blanket but I would get new material.
