I've spotted an ad on our home page that reads this:

Help For Autism

Autism's underlying
causes and what you
can do to reverse
autism.

Health-Reports.com

I hate those people. I tope that they burn and die in HELL!

Do I want to reverse my Asperger's syndrome? The answer is no. In any event, it would not deal with all the other difficulties I have. I am relatively accepted within my community so see no real incentive in a cure, even if one were to be found.

The ad is a con.

Why do NTs always assume that everyone wants to be like them? I'd almost be inclined to refuse any treatment out of pure protest. Anyway, i've said it before and i'll say it again, playing with the mind is dangerous.

I wouldn't want to try something to reverse my AS for fear of causing further problems.

Besides, i've learnt to accept what I am, and that took long enough. I have no wish to have to go through it all again.

I'll second Mr_Winston: The fact that AS/autism is caused by several separate "typos" in different places in our genetic makeup, gives me at fat hunch that IF someone comes up with a "cure", it will most likely entail several "steps" to deal with several separate "issues" that make up Asperger's -- and each of these steps may incur the risk of each their own sets of issues...

If I could just have that "social compass" retrofitted, leaving my high IQ and generally mild and altruistic demeanor intact as is, I just might go for it. But until then, I think it's a far better option to try and "design" your everyday life so as to be as aspie-friendly as it can get...

And to trolltroll: If I'm ret*d, I'm a heck of a ret*d, with a logic/analytic IQ on the fat side of 150...! :nerdy:

I laughed at some of this evidence. I guess they don't have many reasons so they're trying to find any link they can...

It says that genetically modified food may cause autism...and this was somewhere in the paragraph.

Quote:
In one study, farm animals could eat from a trough containing gmo-modified corn or from a trough containing non-gmo, regular corn. In every case, they would sniff the gmo corn but not eat even a bite of it.

Supporting Logic: If it doesn't taste good to farm animals, then it may cause autism. Funny.

Also, you'd have to worry about people taking the wrong dose of "cure" too.....

http://www.health-reports.com/autism.html
Here is a quote from the middle of the page:

Quote:
Cellular Zeolite Testimonials

“I cut back as quick as I got your message. Reduced him to 1 drop instead of three. He was MUCH happier for the rest of the day. All smiles actually. A few people and kids I know are taking it now. We are comparing notes. Here are the negatives we have collectively seen: skin rash, like hives/heat rash or pimples/pox, tired, chest pain (from gas), very gassy, loss of or decreased appetite, aggression/self injury, emotions all over the place.

EDIT:
Towards the bottom of the page I found this:

Quote:
Autistic children build up an electrical charge in their body. Synthetic clothing and shoes do not allow that charge to be dissipated and can be most uncomfortable. If your child does not like being held, it may be that you are wearing synthetic clothing.
A copper wire worn around the ankle can help dissipate the electrical charge that develops in your child, or going barefooted on the ground or in shoes with real rubber soles. You can put a volt meter on the child and get a reading. One way to relieve the buildup of electrical charge in your child is to have them sleep on a special grounding mattress pad that uses carbon fibers in the pad, connected to a grounding wire you stick into the ground. This passively and immediately grounds a person while they sleep.

Anyone found any support for this information? This is the first time I've ever heard of electricity as a cause for sensory problems....
