an example of getting upset over something really stupid?

I was on a crafting forum, trying to get an EXACT pattern (to make beads) of what I need to be doing to make what I am trying to make, and I got several responses with answers like "You COULD try it this way" or "I did it this way once" and "I've heard that others do this".

I don't even do crafts, lol-I make hemp bracelets because it's a straight pattern I got from a book, and I NEVER stray from that pattern, except to use different beads. I do it exactly the same way every single time, because that is how they told me to do it in a book.

One lady (I'm guessing) assumed that because I was on there looking for help, that I do this stuff all of the time or something... and she went into a semi-lecture almost (I don't think it was intended this way) about how she hates to hear me say I can't do it just because I have that mindset going.

I don't know... I tried to explain that I cannot apply these other examples to what I'm wanting to do, because they are just examples-different pictures, different designs, different methods... all very confusing when I try to apply it to my own thing.

She also said that I seem to understand things better than most people (she doesn't understand that I CAN read and understand logically what she is saying, and respond to it, but I canNOT comprehend and apply it to anything), so I should have no problems.

I know I cannot make her understand how hard this is to deal with, and I do understand that it must be very confusing to see someone's post that looks halfway intelligent while at the same time they are saying "what??? I don't get it." But it is very frustrating to have her assuming I'm perfectly capable just because I type like I have half a brain...

She also brought it to my attention that I can respond to her posts which are extremely long and confusing, but she doesn't realize I barely skim over it and get the general idea of what she is saying if it is too terribly confusing. I also have to read it in sections and decipher a lot.

So I cried... for 4 freakin hours just because I couldn't make one stupid bead on my own, just because I couldn't get a response that was "set in stone" to work with (info overload with all the "maybe" and "you might try"s-different examples, different pictures, different ideas, etc.), and because my attempts looked very horrible trying to just go with what they were telling me to do (I get VERY annoyed when something doesn't work right the first time), lol. I know I'm not naturally crafty-I really like knots, and just wanted to try to do something different than what I've found I like in stores (bead wise)-I forgot at the time that it would not be remotely easy...

Anyway, sorry-I just needed to rant there.

Yeah I have this problem about little things effecting me that way too. Though for me it is a rage response. I'll sit and stew for hours and I'll even get repressed anger headaches from it. I remember once when I was about 18 or so that I wanted to go buy something specific and none of the stores had it and I wouldn't call ahead on the phone to ask because I'm weird about using the phone (I'm working on this)so I ended up mad for about 10 hours. I'm too embarrassed to give any more recent examples even here.

it's so frustrating... the most frustrating part is I could probably find someone who could make it, but I want it NOW, lol, so I want to know how to do it myself (no guarantees I'd do well, lol).

I get what you mean about the store too, it bothers me to have to wait for something that is out of stock-so frustrating!

oh cute... she's responded....

I tried to explain, and this is just downright depressing... she's just responding with a lot of "everyone feels that way-everyone does that". She doesn't get-this is how I THINK! It has absolutely nothing to do with how I feel.

LOL! sorry-there is a bit more to this, but I thought I was rambling too much as it was to go back and explain why I was even there, lol.

okay, I got this brilliant idea to try something new (thinking I could find specific step by step directions). So I went to a forum where they do arts/crafts to see if anyone had a specific way to do it. Eventually I finally PM'd to kind of explain a bit because everyone was being too vague.

This lady responded, and started telling me basically "You can do these things if you really want to, everyone has these problems-you are no different than anyone else. Everyone would rather be shown to do things rather than have to figure them out on their own."

I've since given up on the idea altogether, as it's just not going to happen, lol. I don't have the patience for this back and forth crap instead of just a straight response of HOW TO MAKE IT! But it just confirms the idea that people do not want to know or try to understand, and will not make adjustments at all without judging you first.

ultimately I think this post was just about my stupid/illogical reaction.

Now that she's responding still, I'm getting ticked off with her attitude and lack of understanding to even try to help me out, lol. All I want is directions!! ! Specific directions on how to make this stupid thing that I don't even want to make anymore, lol-was just a fleeting idea of "I might be able to do this myself".

I cried for half an hour today because my mom told me that she can't pick me up at the airport because she's going to be out of town at my cousin's wedding. She even offered to pay for me to park at the airport, since she had agreed to drop me off and pick me up before the wedding came up. But I still had to get all upset about it because she changed my plans.

I’ve given up
trying to do something that I cannot

Thank you very much daniel :) I really relate to that.

and awesome everyone who posted experiences they have (not awesome that you had to go through that... I mean awesome as in you understood what the hell I was getting at, lol), I went about it in a very roundabout way, as I was very upset and frustrated at the time, lol, and I left a million and a half gaps in the whole thing I'm sure, but it's okay now :) I just ultimately wanted to see if others could think of some irrational reactions to seemingly stupid things.

Yes ouch, I hate that crap, but sometimes you just have to get that they just can not /will not/do not (want even) to get it, they just want you to succumb to thier ideas and say... "yes you are right,"... BLAH... don't do it!

You should just tell her "sure that is all great for you, but do you have the directions I am looking for?"

I mean... you are not asking her (or anyone) for anything else, and should not have to be subject to her unsolicited advice.

lol, this is true. I just finally told her "look, I'm not lazy, I just don't comprehend what you want me to do with all of this".

She still hasn't given me the directions, lol, but she has asked a lot of questions since, and I've been giving her answers, and she's seeming to learn some stuff-it's kind of nice since I started off so incredibly angry about the entire thing, lol.

If anything else, maybe it'll be some sort of learning experience for her, even if I never do get what I was after, I think it'd be a better payoff in the long run. One person trying to understand isn't a huge deal, but it is after the conversations of "everyone feels that way", etc. that we exchanged, it is kind of oddly interesting to me for some reason.

(I edited this after you posted Jett-this is to the one "Oh, and an irrational reactions I've had to small things... the servers not large enough to hold em' all... ") LOL! so true

I can't relate to that specific example, but I definitely sometimes let things that shouldn't be a big deal really bother me. From schedule changes to really stupid stuff like the students where I work xeroxing these forms rather than letting me print out a new, nice looking copy. I don't know why some of this stuff disturbs me so much, and then sometimes afterwords I'm disturbed by myself for being so disturbed by it (and then I do it again later...)

If it upsets you, its not stupid. Somebody called me a bunch of names and made fun of me and it upset me.I didn't cry or kick the wall but I had this horrible feeling inside, like being punched in the stomach. It helps to talk about it and not try to hold it all inside.

There's a few incidents from last year which are relevant to this thread.

One evening I'd been enjoying a snack [an apple, sliced up]; after finishing it, I neglected to pick it up. My brother noticed this and picked it up in a huff of impatience, or some other negative emotion. After that I felt paralyzed, I worried that if I so much as adjusted my legs, it would cause him to react to me. In the next few hours, I placed negative thoughts in his head, negative thoughts about me, which swirled around, over and over. That night, I can't tell you how relieved I felt when he spoke to me as normal: our relationship wasn't destroyed!

There were a few other irrational reactions like this, especially they stood out to me last year.

It speaks for my ignorance of this condition that it wasn't until an hour or so ago that the thought crossed my mind that I may suffer from Asperger's [after a conversation online with a sufferer of Aspie's].

Oh I just noticed a thread asking if anyone's growing resentful of the aforementioned term ["Aspie's"]; I haven't looked inside the thread itself but as there's a fair amount of responses I'll assume some members would respond in the affirmative. In such a case, I'll apologize for using this term and swear to desist from it in the future.

Hello to you all.
