I'm going to my doctor this week to try and get a referral for an evaluation. Is there anything I should expect or prepare for? I live in the US if that makes any difference.

Prepare for them to fob you off and/or try to give you drugs if you don't ask confidently enough.

I would come with a list of symptoms you deal with/be prepared to talk about them. Also prepare for your doctor to be at least a tad ignorant, as in don't be surprised if you hear "you don't look autistic", or "but you make eye contact" or "do you really want that stigma? You seem fine" Good Luck though!
