Injection today. Comment on my hair. I'm very much sporting the ageing hippy look. To go to the barber or not. The dreaded small talk scenario- eek!!

Also sporting a bit of a hippy look. My sister cuts my hair. Why should I pay to have akwerd conversation? They always want to wash my hair too. I guess this is pleasant to other men and not a comment on my cleanliness. A few have told me it feels nice and also maybe a breast will brush against you.

But to me it's uncomfortable. I do my own washing.

Yep....it's always nice when a lady barber dresses in a slip (yes, that happened!)

I used to have trouble with haircuts until I was about 6 or so.

Trapped in a seat next to a person who expects you to make conversation? No thanks. I bought my own clippers and have gotten decent at running a #4 over my own head.

I don't like getting a haircut as well. So, I don't go as often as I should. Eventually, there was always a... "Damn.. How long has it been?". So, nowadays, I always say something about that very early in the conversation. Usually, it's when I describe the haircut I want: "I want something short.. well, that's actually what I have had last time, but they have had quite some time to grow since then. I don't really like to get a haircut. So, I don't come very often" I believe this helps to push their understanding as they now know I don't enjoy it. With this in mind, I think they adjust to my behavior, because it's to their best advantages to make it a positive experience so they can get a new customers. I have moved a lot in the past years, so I did not have the opportunity to get back to the same place a lot, but I have enjoyed my last experiences at this barbershop close to my home. They will attempt the small-talk, but when they see I don't want to, they'll stop to try to push it and keep it very practical. Also, the haircut has been very nice.

I used to have trouble with haircuts until I was about 16 or so.

Not the convo part. Having someone constantly trying to get me to stay still, moving my head into whatever position, using scissors on me and so on. eek.

I am not a fan of barbers either. Trying to come up with something to say is kind of annoying! I really hate when it's a more popular barber shop cause then the barbers be talking to other customers! So what should have been like a 10-15 minute hair cut now turns into 30-45 minutes!

When I was younger I hated getting hair cuts! I don't remember exactly when I became okay with it but, you had to wrestle with me to keep me in the chair!

My hair since 1983 has been mainly cut by my wife and then my youngest stepdaughter. The 2-3 times it wasn’t it was cut by a friend of my stepdaughter who is a hairdresser.

I'm too tight too pay for a barber so I do it myself and couldn't give a hoot if it looks like I lost a fight with a lawnmower

If you always go to the same barber they'll eventually get you don't want the chit-chat. A decent barber will work out quick quickly from your one-word answers that you're not a chit-chat client. I also always tip well just to reinforce that no-chit chat doesn't bother me and they quickly come to your way of thinking.

I always hated going to the hair dressers. The seats are too tight for overweight people, and unfortunately, that includes me. They also always want to give shampoos first, even if you come in with your hair still wet from having shampooed it yourself, and the rim of the shampoo sink always hurt my neck. They also kept wanting to spray chemical sprays on my hair, and I never do the rest of the time, so why do it then. I don't like breathing in all those toxic chemicals, and I have lung issues anyway. Finally, when my finances went south, I moved near to where my father and step mom have their summer home, so I started having my step mom cut my hair. She has been doing it for herself and her kids and grand kids for decades, so that was a help. I still had a problem in the winter when my hair would grow out and get hard to manage, so I eventually bought my own clipper kit, and I'm glad I did. It is worth the cost of the kit, because you don't have to pay anyone to do it anymore, and you don't have to put up with any barber/salon issues either. These kits are not hard to use, either, but you will have to put up with some noise while cutting the hair, and I prefer to cut first, then shower off the cut hair, so I won't be itchy afterward.

I suggest everyone get a clipper kit. Hope this helps. :D

I can't afford to pay somebody to cut my hair, 'cause it just keeps growing back, and then you have to pay them all over again. I do own my own barber chair, but I bought that for tattooing.

When my ponytail starts slapping me on the back as I work out, I take the scissors, reach back and lop off a few inches. Doesn't cost a dime.

I think with my dyspraxic tendencies and visual spatial difficulties cutting my own hair would be a big No No.
