As I read this article, it resonated with me, and possibly will do with a lot of our introverted members here:

PS - Yes, I know that not everyone on the spectrum is an introvert, though many are..

Didn't read the whole thing, but I did quite like this quote:

Quote:
a minority in the regular population but a majority in the gifted population

Somehow I can't help but feel like there's a lot of truth to that statement. Not to say extroverts can't be gifted, but I think the general difference is that extroverts are really only gifted in one area, whereas introverts may have several of those areas.

America is a very extroverted-culture. For decades I thought my introversion and shyness was the cause of my difficulties because I had no idea that is how my Aspergers-Autism presents itself.

I was the quiet student who sat in the corner with a book in hand whenever I could, and my favourite place was the library - it still is. In the article I really resonated to the adaption of Sartre's famous "hell is other people" to "hell is other people at breakfast".

A badge saying "please do not converse with this introvert until mid-morning at the earliest" would be very useful, though if an extrovert saw it early in the morning, he or she would (probably) immediately start a conversation, "why don't you like speaking to people in the morning? I hate having breakfast alone.." They aren't good at picking up on hints from intros!
