Could my aspergers traits be worse than my employer (an autism counselor) thinks? She thinks I just have traits but I think it might be more than just traits. Can aspergers hide in the brain and not reveal itself?

I have been thinking the same thing. I thought I had just a couple of strong indicators of Asperger syndrome, but a critical inventory of my whole life makes me think I may genuinely have it. I don't want to have it confirmed because I feel any chance I may have at a fresh start later in life may be gone forever if word gets out. I want to look back in my old age on a life that got a late start but finished well, not at a life all alone in a care home.

I guess for me, the only way to really know is to not speculate and just get tested. It won't be until January though so I have a lot of waiting...
