Hi guys,

I was wondering how you guys are able to avoid meltdowns or how are you able to recover from those? I am in a bad place and unable to function right now.

Thanks

To avoid meltdowns I:
1. Identify my needs;
2. Practise assertiveness;
3. Avoid sensory discomfort;
3a) Use noise-cancelling earplugs in noisy places;
4. Rest a lot and use every opportunity to relax.

To deal with meltdowns in public:
1. Use my trained excuse: "Sorry, I'm feeling sick, I need to go to the bathroom NOW!"
2. Go to the bathroom and wait until I calm down enough to deal with the situation.

1. Find my safe place.
2. Take an action that begins to reduce my anxiety like pacing back and forth.
3. Think what made my anxiety levels rise and write it down in my trigger journal.
4. Engage in an interest (such as drawing) to help me forget about my anxiety.

1) Understand my triggers
2) Recognise them early and act
3) Reduce demands placed upon me
4) Reduce social communication and Interaction
5) Head for somewhere safe (where 3 and 4 can be obtained) usually my room
6) Do not expect to much of myself for a few days after
