A Social and Medical History of Autism
It's a good document.
One issue I've got with it is on page 17:
"Most adults with autism highlight the importance of sensory-perceptual differences rather than the behaviours currently used to diagnose autism"
That seems to oversimplify things. There was a comic in another thread (http://the-art-of-autism.com/understand ... planation/) that suggested sensory was only one part of the spectrum (others being executive function, perception, motor skills, and language).
If sensory issues were to be made the primary trait of ASD/Asperger's, it would invalidate a lot of people's diagnosis, including mine. As far as I know, I don't have any sensory issues except for minor annoyances from tags on clothing.
