With cats, I am often quick to form a bond with them, because I have researched cat body language, plus understanding it comes fairly naturally to me anyway.
At one point I considered becoming a cat behaviourist. People always deterred me from studying human psychology, saying that "You can't do that because you're too introverted/blunt/impatient/insensitive/not a good fit for that subject, etc.".
Basically, it was highly suggested to me to do something where I wouldn't have to deal with people much. When I first started College, I met this middle-aged couple with two cats, and they remarked that one of the cats "didn't like anyone".
Later on, the same cat was sat next to me purring.
The couple were shocked, and commented "Well, if IT doesn't work out for you, then perhaps you should consider working with animals".
