Do you have a problem understanding rules? I don't mean social rules. I mean rules like 'no spamming'. It took me so long and much research on the net to finally understand what is considered spam and what isn't. When I was a kid, I was told by a teacher that girls weren't allowed to leave school, but I saw them go out the gate to the kiosk, buy something, and come back. Took me a while to finally understand we weren't allowed to leave school and not come back, but we certainly were allowed to get out during recess as long as we came back for class on time.

Who else doesn't understand rules?
And why do I find it so difficult? What is the reason for this?

They say rules are there to be broken!

I understand it better then most. Assuming I actually take the time to read them and remember. What throws me off, is the unequal enforcement of rules... Something this site is extremely guilty of for example. As Glflegolas said, rules are met to be broken.

I have trouble understanding rules, even when they are explained to me. I'm a definite rule-follower and I really fear breaking rules and getting into trouble, so this is a big issue for me. I cry and panic when I fear I have done something wrong, and I often need a lot of reassurance that I haven't broken any rules.

I have thought rules out there were stupid because they made no sense. The only way I followed them was because I feared getting into trouble and being punished. I thought this was normal and why rules were there so grown ups could punish kids.

It was hard to take them seriously if other kids were not following them. It would make me think we were allowed to do that.

There are some times that I find myself breaking one WP rule or another. I don't know how I come across to the other members, and I mention bodily functions sometimes.

I often don't understand rules properly and either give up following then at all because they don't make sense, or I spend half my time freaking out I have done something wrong.

I don't seem to have a middle ground. Like if it's a rule I am worried about I panic about when is appropriate to break it or like do you have to stick to it all the time even if it makes no sense.

Other rules I don't think are very kind or they don't allow people to be human and make mistakes so I ignore them all together.

There is a rule I always had an issue with and that is talking about banned members. We have no way of knowing who is banned and I just assumed that rule meant like starting threads asking why a user is banned or disagreeing out in the open about their banning. Not talking about a user on here who just happens to be banned without your knowledge. But that rule might have got taken too literal by the old staff team. That is why the rules seem to change on here based on what staff team we have here. One of the old staff teams worked like robots so it was like working with bots instead of with real people and that was frustrating.
